Munshi in 1938, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan has remained dedicated to preserving India’s timeless cultural heritage while nurturing responsible, enlightened and compassionate citizens. Inspired by this enduring vision, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Guwahati Kendra strives to harmonise tradition with modernity and contribute meaningfully to the intellectual, cultural and social development of Assam.

Established in 2005, our Kendra is committed to creating an environment where education extends beyond classrooms to embrace culture, creativity and community service. We believe that true education empowers individuals with professional competence while strengthening their moral values, cultural awareness and sense of national responsibility.

Assam possesses an extraordinary civilisational legacy enriched by the teachings of Srimanta Sankardeva, the elegance of Sattriya, the devotional spirit of Borgeet and numerous other artistic traditions. Preserving this heritage requires active participation by younger generations. Through Bhavan’s Kala Kendra, we organise weekly classes along with competitions, workshops and cultural programmes that encourage students to appreciate, practise and carry forward these invaluable traditions. Initiatives such as Pratibha 26, along with workshops in Bharatanatyam, Sattriya and Borgeet, reflect our commitment to nurturing artistic excellence while making cultural learning accessible to all.

Our vision extends beyond the performing arts. Through our yoga centre, library, Centre for senior citizens, computer education initiatives and community outreach programmes, including cyber awareness sessions for senior citizens, we seek to promote lifelong learning and meaningful social engagement. These activities reflect our belief that education must remain relevant to contemporary society while remaining firmly rooted in enduring values.

As we move forward, we remain committed to strengthening partnerships with educational institutions, scholars, artists and the wider community to create a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and intellectual growth.
